The Heritage Days Classic is an annual event to showcase some of the top working horses in competitions like reined cow horse, ranch cutting, reining, and ranch riding. Becoming a sanctioned National Reined Cow Horse Association event in 2017 under the South Texas Reined Cow Horse affiliate has helped to grow the event to record numbers!
The difference between HDC and other horse shows is that 40% of the profits from the annual HDC show is donated to the Still Creek Equestrian Program. This is an equine program at Still Creek, a live on campus Christian school for chidren with challenging home lives or absent guardians.
The Heritage Days Classic Stallion Auction was created to spotlight industry stallions and promote the working horse. This auction is set up to give added money to the HDC Derby. The HDC Derby is a sanctioned NRCHA event and a STRCHA affiliate show.
The first auction was held in 2018 and supported the 2019 HDC Derby. The money earned from the auction bumped the show to an NRCHA Premier Event. With the help of the auction and the addition of the derby the Heritage Days Classic doubled in size from the 2018 show. Growth is expected to continue but is only possible with the generosity of stallion owners like you! A Sire Award is up for grabs to the sire of the winning HDC Open Derby horse. The sire must have a breeding sold in that year’s HDC Auction to be eligible for this award.
